Solar power for Cuba

It took a long time, but we have found what we hope is a satisfactory solution. Finding a reliable solution to the problem of solar power generation in Cuba has proven much more difficult than originally thought.
Our initial idea was simply to use the technology from the balcony power plants known here. However, upon closer inspection, this proposed option turned out to be impractical. A balcony power plant requires a stable public power grid to function. The next option was the so-called off-grid systems offered here, but we were unable to achieve satisfactory results with these systems either, as these systems are usually based on 12 or 24 volts and, in addition, often involve considerable installation effort. Furthermore, the necessary certification and approval for transporting batteries is a real challenge.
In collaboration with a master craftsman and the company Growatt, we ultimately managed to put together a system that meets all the requirements in Cuba and, above all, meets our requirements for temperature stability and longevity/performance guarantee.

The solar off-grid system shown here uses only brand-name components with extremely flexible expansion options. The maximum PV input power is 4500 Wp. The storage capacity can be expanded up to 25.6 kWh. Another advantage is that the batteries can also be charged via the temporarily available power grid. (Feeding into the existing grid is not possible without expansion.)

The system size 1 shown here is certainly not sufficient to cover the electricity needs of a house. However, the PV output should certainly be sufficient to run refrigerators and fans during the day, even with moderate sunlight, in the event of a power outage. During nighttime power outages, a full 5 kWh storage system is sufficient to supply the refrigerator and fans with energy until morning.
