The Merienda project

During our last visit to Cuba, we launched the Meriendar project together with a church organization. Unfortunately, due to the current economic situation in Cuba, many families are unable to provide their children with sufficient food. Many schoolchildren go to school in the morning without breakfast or a snack. Often, they have only had a glass of water by the time they leave the house. With this project, we want to support institutions that run so-called poor people's or school kitchens. In many places in Cuba, students already have the opportunity to pick up a piece of bread and, with a lot of luck, even a cup of milk from such facilities on their way to school. We support church organizations that have addressed this problem. For example, La Iglesia nuestra Senora de la Merced in Havana already runs a small kitchen where students can pick up a snack on their way to school. Unfortunately, due to a shortage of raw materials, this is far too often not possible. For this purpose, we are seeking donations in kind or money from industry and businesses to purchase food, preferably powdered milk, flour, cooking oil, and powdered beverages. These will be transported to Cuba in the same way.

Furthermore, our collections continue to support church and charitable institutions that work with the increasing number of people forced to live on the streets in Cuba.
We also endeavor, as far as capacity allows, to transport goods from other charitable or social organizations based in Germany at low cost or even free of charge, if this serves the common good and is possible as part of a shared load.

If you would like to help us with this task, or one of our many other projects to support the children and people of Cuba,
we can assure you that your help will reach where it is needed.
We have set up a donation account here for the children and people living on the streets of Cuba.
Even the smallest donation counts! Every single euro counts!
